Physical Activity

Promoting the physical health and wellbeing of students is a fundamental responsibility for all schools.

This section focuses on the theory from a key piece of research created by Public Health England and The Youth Sport Trust called “What works in schools and colleges to increase physical activity?” and aligns to the Time2Move Framework.

Each recommendation below is supported by comprehensive links and resources, providing practical guidance for effective implementation. By embracing these initiatives, schools can foster an environment that encourages lifelong habits of physical activity and wellbeing.

Underpinning all these principles are that schools should adopt a whole school approach to increase levels of physcial activity and children should be physically active for at least 60 minutes a day, it’s suggested that 30 minutes of this be in schools.
