Enabling the health and care workforce in England to better support people with a learning disability and autistic people.
The training is named after Oliver McGowan, whose death shone a light on the need for health and social care staff to have better training. The Health and Care Act 2022 introduced a statutory requirement that regulated service providers must ensure their staff receive learning disability and autism training appropriate to their role.
Together we can prevent the many avoidable deaths like Oliver’s from happening again.
Oliver’s Training consists of two parts:
The Oliver McGowan Training is the government’s preferred and recommended training for health and social care staff. This may also suit families, carers, and personal assistants of people with a learning disability and autistic people. Or anyone wanting to build their general awareness.
The course is run over 2 x 3.5 hour sessions, either across one or two days
Cost:
Individuals - £35
Organisations with 10-30 attendees - £650
